DIG, Southern Range, covers the three districts of Southern Mizoram viz. Lunglei, Lawngtlai and Saiha.
The post of Superintendent of Police was created in the year 1972. The Superintendent of Police is assisted by Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. S.P) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP (Hqrs.) Lunglei) and Sub-Divisional Police Oficers (SDPOs) at the the Sub-Divisions. The present incumbents as on 8.6.2015 are as follows:

162nd BSF (stationed at Zotlang, Lunglei) - guards the western border with Bangladesh along Lawngtlai District border.
