Lunglei the 3rd September 2022 – Hon’ble Minister of Women & Child Development; Minority Affairs Smt Smriti Zubin Irani today reached Lunglei town, the capital of Lunglei District in Mizoram for a one day visit. 

 The Minister held a review meeting of Centrally Sponsored Schemes with all Heads of Offices in Lunglei District at the DC Conference Hall. 

 Addressing the Heads of Offices, the Union Minister expressed her appreciation for the diligent implementation of various projects and schemes by Departments in Lunglei District. Speaking about the importance of citizen centric governance, the Minister reminded the District level officials to always put citizens’ welfare first, and to always ensure that their schemes reach the grassroots level of the society. The Minister directed the officials to set up Public Grievance Cells, organize camps for the disabled and elderly, and work towards convergence of Government schemes wherever possible. She instructed the officers not to hesitate in reporting any issues or bottlenecks faced by them in the course of their works, especially in implementing key schemes and projects.

Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A gave a presentation on a brief profile of Lunglei District and projects undertaken by various Departments in the District.  Various Centrally sponsored schemes in the District such as Amrit Sarovar, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY),Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, National Health Mission etc were discussed at length in the meeting.

The Minister was accompanied from Aizawl by Dr Lalrozama, IAS, Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs, DC&MA Department and Pi Lallianpuii, Director, Women & Child Development, Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Department. They were received at Kawmzawl Helipad in Lunglei by Lunglei DC Shri Kulothungan A and other officials.
